After reserving your project, you’ll complete our Story Builder to help us understand the people, places, photographs, milestones and memories that matter most.

We’ll use that information to prepare for your interview rather than discovering your story for the first time when the cameras start rolling.

Your interview is recorded remotely using professional online recording technology. From there, EverStory Films develops the story through editing, photographs, home videos, music, graphics, historical context and other appropriate storytelling elements.

You’ll then have an opportunity to review the film and request revisions before final delivery.

That’s normal.

These aren’t television interviews and we’re not looking for rehearsed performances. Pauses, laughter, imperfect sentences, emotion and personality are often what make a story feel real years later.

We want you to sound like yourself.

Depending on the project, spouses, children, grandchildren, siblings, friends, colleagues or others may contribute interviews, photographs, videos or memories.

Multiple perspectives can turn a biography into a much richer family story.

Your materials remain yours.

You grant EverStory Films permission to use the materials you provide for the purpose of producing your commissioned film. Providing material to us does not transfer ownership of your photographs, home videos or other client-owned materials to EverStory Films.

Please only provide materials that you own or have sufficient permission to provide for use in your film.

Personal histories are inseparable from the music, films, television, places and culture people experienced throughout their lives. Where editorially appropriate, a Private Family Edition may incorporate limited third-party material as part of a larger original biographical story, including for commentary, historical or cultural context, reference, illustration, comparison, juxtaposition, humour or other expressive purposes.

Rights in third-party materials remain with their respective copyright owners. Private-family delivery does not automatically include rights for unrestricted online or commercial distribution.

If public distribution is important to you, tell us before production so we can plan accordingly.

A Private Family Edition may contain music, film, television, archival or other third-party materials that require additional review before unrestricted public distribution.

If you want to publish your film publicly, EverStory Films can discuss creating a Public Sharing Edition, in which certain elements may be licensed, replaced, shortened, removed or otherwise adapted for the intended platform.

Not simply because we produced it.

Your commissioned film is a personal project. EverStory Films will not treat the complete Private Family Edition as unrestricted promotional material merely because we created it.

If we would like to publicly feature your story, interview footage, testimonial or excerpts for EverStory marketing, we will obtain the permissions required by our agreement or a separate release.

We may use modern production tools, including AI-assisted technology, where appropriate for tasks such as transcription, organisation, research assistance, audio cleanup, image restoration or other production workflows.

AI is a tool—not the storyteller.

Creative decisions about interviews, story structure, emotional pacing, editing and final presentation remain part of the EverStory production process. We do not intentionally fabricate significant biographical facts or present invented events as authentic memories.

Yes.

Your included review period is the time to identify factual errors, misspelled names, incorrect dates, photograph identifications and reasonable editorial changes.

We strongly encourage clients and families to carefully check names, dates and factual information during review.

Once final approval has been given and the project has been delivered, additional changes may require reopening the project and may incur an additional editing or archive-retrieval fee.

Rush production depends on current capacity and the scope of the project. Rush projects must be approved by EverStory Films before purchase and may require full payment plus a rush-production surcharge.

No.

We may retain project files for a limited period after delivery for operational, revision or archival purposes, but we do not guarantee permanent storage of interviews, photographs, project files or finished films unless a separate archival service expressly provides otherwise.

Clients are responsible for maintaining backups of their delivered film and irreplaceable original family materials.

Life doesn’t always follow a production schedule.

Contact us as soon as possible. We will make reasonable efforts to reschedule or determine what can be completed from material already recorded, subject to the circumstances and your project agreement.

For time-sensitive legacy projects, we strongly encourage families not to wait to begin recording important stories.

Our films can preserve an individual life story, a couple’s story, family history, milestone, retirement, reunion, memorial, company history or another story worth passing on.

You do not need to be famous, have an extraordinary résumé or know how to tell your own story. Ordinary lives contain extraordinary stories when someone takes the time to ask the right questions.

No. That’s our job.

This isn’t a speech and you don’t need to memorise anything. Our interviews are conversations designed to help uncover stories naturally. Your Story Builder gives us a head start so we can ask better questions, follow interesting threads and spend interview time exploring memories rather than collecting basic information.

Most EverStory interviews are recorded remotely, allowing families to participate from almost anywhere without the cost and complexity of a traditional film crew.

Before the interview, we’ll provide guidance for camera placement, lighting, sound and internet connection and may schedule a technical check when appropriate.

We will guide you through this during the Story Builder.

Rather than simply uploading hundreds of unexplained photographs, we’ll ask for context whenever possible: who is pictured, approximately when and where it was taken, what was happening and why the image matters.

Family photographs, home movies, letters, newspaper clippings, certificates, artwork, memorabilia and other meaningful materials can all help tell the story.

Where appropriate, we may perform reasonable editorial enhancement such as cropping, reframing, colour correction, noise reduction or restoration to help older material work within the film.

Significant restoration, reconstruction or specialised visual-effects work may require additional services or approval.

Yes. That’s one of the primary purposes of a Private Family Edition.

You may keep copies for your personal family archive and privately share the delivered film with family members for personal viewing, subject to the terms accompanying your project.

You retain ownership of the personal materials you supplied.

EverStory Films retains rights in its original production elements, including its editing, graphics, designs, templates, production methods and other original creative elements, except where otherwise agreed in writing.

Third-party materials remain owned by their respective rights holders.

Your project agreement grants you the right to possess and use the delivered film for the purposes specified for your edition.

We make reasonable efforts to accurately represent the information and materials provided to us, but a Life Story Film is principally a record of people’s memories and experiences—not an independently audited historical record.

Memories can differ, dates can be approximate and family members may remember the same event differently.

When historical accuracy matters to a particular part of the story, please tell us and provide supporting information where available.

Unless your package states otherwise, EverStory projects include two revision rounds.

Revision rounds are intended for reasonable adjustments to the completed edit. They are not intended to restart production, substantially change the agreed story direction or introduce large amounts of new material after editing has been completed.

Additional revisions or substantial changes may be quoted separately.

Every story is different.

Production time depends on the package, interview scheduling, amount and organisation of source material, film length, revision turnaround and current production capacity.

Any production estimate is an estimate rather than a guaranteed delivery date unless EverStory Films expressly agrees to a deadline in writing.

Your initial payment reserves production capacity and begins the EverStory process.

For standard projects, the reservation payment is generally 50% of the project price, with the remaining balance due according to the terms of your project agreement before the project proceeds into its final production stage.

Your individual order or agreement controls if different payment terms apply.

Because EverStory reserves production time and begins customised work specifically for your family, cancellation and refund eligibility depend on how far the project has progressed.

Your project agreement will explain the cancellation policy that applies to your purchase.

Finished films are delivered digitally in the format described in your package or project agreement.

Families should download and maintain their own archival backups after delivery. Digital storage systems and businesses change over time, so EverStory should not be treated as the permanent or sole archive of your family history.
